Vattavada a remote sleepy town in Munnar

 Vattavada Munnar 25-26 May 2018

 Munnar trip on a Maruti 800 car the plan was to go to Malakkapara- Valpara but it was dropped because of the scare of Nipha virus so last minute it was changed to Munnar. So as usual food for one day iddli for breakfast, pulav with chicken curry for lunch & chappati for dinner. Started from Vinod,'s home by 8am usual morning traffic reached Neriyamangalam by 10am there is a hanging bridge at Inchathotty a stroll over the bridge and had breakfast it was a nice winding road on the way to the bridge reached Munnar 2pm by 3:30 lunch Vinod was in a hurry because we have to reach the check post by 4pm from


A little stretch from Top Station to Pampadum Shola forest checkpost  the road condition was very bad but later heard that it was Tamil Nadu road, after this we got good tarred road  Vinod have already booked dormitory accommodation at Munnar forest office we confirmed the same over phone when we reached Munnar


After registering our names we moved to our dormitory the view was scenic misty mountains, Shola forests grass lands all was very glad to be there and even planned for an extended stay. Vinod's friend took  us to a strawberry farm at Koviloor got all information about strawberry farming and moved to see the terraced farms of Koviloor, Vattavada as it was not season couldn't see much green,, in July-August the farm will be green as it will be  season harvest for Onam


Moved back to Pampadum Shola national park dormitory there is a canteen just opposite to our room food can be ordered here but should be informed early we had a cup of tea enjoyed the views of the misty mountains and the mist two of them had a scary leech attack spend sometime on the grass and moved back the atmosphere was not chilly but it was cool

Our dinner plan was chappati & chicken curry the canteen people told that they will hear the chappati & chicken curry so by 9:15-9:30 we went to the canteen but didn't find anyone there seems the went to sleep early so plan B Vinod had brought bread so we had bread & chicken curry. I kept the windows opened so it was little bit cooler the windows with a view of the misty mountains. The nearby people were very eager to see the Gaur which usually comes near the grasslands, at last heard sound of the vehicle even at 4:30am but they couldn't see but saw few Nilgiri Tahr

Morning views are beautiful with mist covered mountains all around and beautiful views of the Shola forests, woke up the canteen guys got some coffee in a flask after morning chores, photo sessions, moved to Top Station on the way we had breakfast from only restaurant nice food, then moved to Top Station as it started raining we dropped this and moved to Munnar


no electricity or solar lights that too will go off by midnight, we faced this, no network only BSNL that too we have to find a place were we could get the signal, no drinking water, occassional jeeps to Koviloor its zero traffic on the road 




At Mattupetty near Indo Swiss project we saw 2 elephants with a baby, the same herd we saw earlier, reached home by 7:30pm

no petrol pumps on the way, but heard that we will get the same from black market 

dormitory accomodation in one you can accomodate 7 persons @ Rs. 500 & the other one 8 persons, you can book the same, over phone at Munnar  if you want luxury huts 2 huts & mud house is avaiable it perched  in a hillock we can veiw the same from dormitory accomodates 3 Rs4000 for 2 +1000 for additional person ( only 3 persons allowed ) you book the same online
